ASA helps put the (Chevy) Spark into Romance

Chevrolet Romance - Studio

With February 29 around the corner and Valentine’s Day approaching, ASA’s Nigel Spreadbury and Tony Rogers were asked to help Chevrolet to put a bright Spark into romance.

February 14 is traditionally the day couples express their love for each other in many ways. But while chocolates, flowers or champagne may say “I love you”, Chevrolet’s research on what puts the spark into a relationship needed illustrating with a series of inspiring images.

According to Chevrolet’s survey for Europe and UK, the most assured way to get a “Yes!” when proposing to your man is on holiday, through his mum or his teammates… requiring Nigel and Tony to capture the romance of Valentine’s Day for the launch of the Chevrolet Spark ‘pink’.

Featuring models Victoria Burton and Luke Stott to reflect the best-known couple in the world – Barbie and Ken – ASA was tasked with creating a very special ‘look of love’ that also saw them turning the studio into a paradise beach.

The Eagle Speedster at ASA infinity Studios

Eagle Speedster

The Eagle Speedster was initially a one off commission designed by internationally acclaimed Jaguar E-Type specialists Eagle, however, the attention and feedback received has led them to produce another in ‘technical homage’ to the 12 original lightweight E-Types built by Jaguar. This creation is the Eagle Lightweight Speedster. Although retaining much of its 1960’s heritage, the Speedster benefits from many of the upgrades Eagle are renowned for including their 4.7L all aluminium engine and 5 speed gearbox thus creating a truly extraordinary car.

ASA Infinity Studios were privileged to be commissioned to capture the elegant profiles of this exclusive and hand-built car for a set of promotional stills. Fully utilising ASA’s motorised turntable and infinity cove, they were able to produce a comprehensive set of images showcasing the seamless, flowing lines and custom detailing of this beautifully designed car. Not only does the infinity cove help create the feeling of endless space and give the ultimate backdrop to producing sharper and more vivid photographs, the integrated motorised turntable allows vehicles such as the Speedster to be quickly and easily moved into position. In conjunction with the latest equipment and lighting, this creates the ideal facility to capture the design and essence of cars and motorcycles, classic or modern which was precisely the aim of this photoshoot.

ASA Infinity Studios sent photographer Tony Rogers to photograph the glamorous event, featuring designs by the students of AIU London and attended by noted fashion designer Zandra Rhodes and key industry figures.

Viral Fashion Show Viral Fashion Show

ASA’s brief was to provide not only high quality images of each design on the catwalk, but creative images of backstage and the event as a whole for the universities PR and marketing for 2012.  The event was a total success and best of all, the client loved the pictures.

Viral Fashion Show

The student designers work needed to apply thoughts and considerations based around the theme of Biology. Some of the designs were truly inspirational and very creative. ASA Infinity Studios are very much looking forward to the next event.

ASA Infinity Studios go in search of Father Christmas with Chevrolet

One of ASA Infinity Studios photographers Nigel Spreadbury, ventured within the Arctic Circle to shoot the Chevrolet Captiva.

As part of Chevrolet’s centennial celebrations, a Chevrolet Captiva was given to an SOS Childrens Village in Ylitornio, Finland, which is 850k north of Helsinki. ASA were invited to capture the Captiva in daily use by the charity, just as a well known character was due to arrive.

Father Christmas with the Chevrolet Captiva

SOS Children’s Villages is an international, non-governmental social development organisation that provides services in the areas of care, education and health for children who have already lost or who are at risk of losing parental care. The organisation was founded in Austria in 1949 and today runs more than 2,100 programmes for some 2.2 million children and adults in 133 countries and territories.

Nigel faced challenging shoot conditions from temperatures that fell well below zero, to very short daylight hours. In winter, sunrise is at 10.00 and sunset is a 14.00. Nigel needed to work quickly and efficiently, but still to produce high quality images for Chevrolet’s PR. The equipment performed perfectly, but Nigel was very aware to keep the batteries for both the cameras and flash lights warm to maintain their life, very cold conditions often mean batteries don’t last as long as they normally would.

 SOS Children's Charity Team

It proved to be a wonderful experience and very emotional.  The hospitably of the SOS charity couldn’t have been better and Nigel has been invited back at anytime. Whilst on the 11 hour drive north from Helsinki, Nigel also had the pleasure to witness the Aurora Borealis.

White box – Black box

A new creative, ASA 360

The ASA Infinity Studios team, including photographers Tony Rogers and Nigel Spreadbury, wanted to push the boundaries of ASA 360. ASA have perfected producing spins of cars and motorbikes but wanted to try something a little different.

Whilst meeting a new client, an idea began to form in the teams minds, with the question, would it be possible to have a product change within a 360 rotation? Could a person be involved within the footage? ASA decided to put this to the test….

The team built a simple, white wooden box, positioned it on the centre of the turntable and a model dressed in a Morph costume, Ellen, began to paint the box black. Using a Nikon D3x and Profoto lights, ASA recorded the 360.
